Superfolk is/are an enigma...Plenty of food for thought, though, as Superfolk espouses philosophy and politics and provides a full set of lyrics...Experimental noodling and self-penned compositions that amount to a campfire take on pretty much every cool acoustic artist you’ve ever listened to without quite being able to put your finger on who, exactly, they might be.
—Ian Fraser, terrascope.co.uk

More like pretentious speedfreak babble than acidhead revelations...Lo-fi throughout and intriguing more out of curiosity than anything else.
—George Parsons, Dream Magazine

---this album doesn't go to eleven, yet it is rock 'n' roll, magical root expression free and easy---these are field recordings in the tradition of pioneer blues and folk, captured against the odds with simple equipment---humyn-animalistic autonomies conjoined in easeful purpose, low-fi envelopings representing the unity of source explicit unto the here and now---...---superfolk began as an intention to get together on friday afternoons to play some music and otherwise convene and connect---but as life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans there were long gaps connecting our first meetings, ten months between the first and second and only six in the first year, yet the music is a spontaneous recreation of the freedom and ease of the environment, the pleasurable expansion of those few hours---initially we took a more traditional approach to the songs: here’s this song, the chords are . . ., but a more organic approach quickly took its place, where one of us would play and sing while the other added harmolodic accompaniment and vocalization---depending on how often we played a song would inform how improvised the music was, but every version, no matter how rare or regular a rendition became, remained a unique harmolodic representation of itself---these tunes represent the first intermittent days of superfolk---

---the magic of coincidence and synchronicity has surrounded our music from the beginning and continues to do so as we work toward putting this collection together---five years ago in rhode island, the crows did gather in the large oaks that lined the orchard, convening to listen to us play; it happened too frequently not to be connected and simply passed off to chance---...---the very nature/essence of chance lies w/in our intrepid symbolism---chance is readily associated w/ the notion of randomness, but it’s how one regards the idea of chance that it has what bearing it has in one’s life: either it imposes a haphazard discontinuous disarray of happenings, a barrage of random events pulling one this way and that by proxy, which can make life seem meaningless---or it shows life to be a continuous stream of beauty and meaning, a magical swirl of connectedness, and that our participation in this dynamic of creating the fruition of one possibility over another is always a conscious choice we can make: chance in this sense is the very core of life itself---in our discernment, when we realized that the appearance of the CROWS when we were playing was not a coincidence, we celebrated this---that they were indeed drawn closer so as to be able to hear us better was and is an honor: “i believe in what i know, i am akin to CROW”---

—excerpt from "music for crows" liner knotes

Ladies and Gentlemen, Sisters and Brothers, Womyn and Men, Girls and Boys: This is a call to battle. This is a song of hope. This is an entreaty to what is best in all of you. This is a protest against the heresy of our times, against the blatant violations of our most basic and natural rights. This is a request, that in accord with your capacity to do so, you resist the lures and pitfalls of everything around you designed to steal away your creativity and your autonomy, which in the end amount to the same thing; on the other hand, call-out, encourage, and foster everything around you that speaks to your heart of what is true and unquestionable, that despite it’s seeming ambivalence toward us, life is basically benevolent, if not good....Be open to the fullness of living-life, the pulse of eros. Question and critique your reality toward making it more positive and abundant for you and everyone around you. Engage the cosmos fearlessly.

—excerpt from "2012: the coincidence of speed and love" liner knotes
